Near where I live, car thefts are on the rise. Not cool. I cannot afford to have my pride and joy nicked from the front of my house. How would I sneak off to McDonald's drive-thru for a cheeky burger on the sly without it?! The police are too preoccupied chasing actual crime like writing out speeding tickets to bother with protecting our hard-earned stuff. That's why I use these products to give myself the best chance that the thieves will take one look at my car and ignore it; they'll move onto that neighbour's car that I don't particularly like (sorry Julie). I've included some bits I use around the house too.
You can be just like me and complete your really cool dad look with this simple device.
Thieves are a bit cleverer these days, and have devices that hack the continuous signal emitted by your electronic car keys, granting them easy access to your beloved vehicle without even touching your key. Faraday pouches and boxes completely BLOCK that signal, meaning that those pesky pilferers can't hack the signal and leave empty-handed.
There's lots of different ones available, so check them out below for that extra bit of protection.
Now, this next item you really can't cheap out on I'm afraid. Do not get one of those yellow bars which slot through your steering wheel. Believe it or not, robbers are actually simply cutting through people's steering wheels, removing these bars, and then driving off into the sunset. The thieves will just replace the steering wheel once they've got your car! You really need a full cover lock for your steering wheel. This means that the blighters can't cut it off with an angle grinder. Have a little look at the one below.
Again, it's probably best not to buy the cheapest GPS tracker as some brands can be a bit unreliable. If you drive something nice, you need a PROPER GPS tracker. Having an insurance-approved tracker can actually bring the price of your policy down if you declare that you have one, saving you money in the long-run.
The product I've singled out is the REWIRE Thatcham S7 tracker. It's a chunk of money, but you've got to be willing to pay for complete peace of mind in this day and age. You do get a lot for your money, however, including free nationwide installation, a full year of GPSLive software subscription, 24/7 alarm monitoring, tow away and tamper alerts, and UK-based support. Check it out below.
This is such a simple device that I use all the time. I used to tear all my sensitive documents into thin strips as I'm too tight to buy a paper shredder. When I discovered this, it was a complete game-changer for me...
You press a button at the top which reveals the ink roller, and you simply roll it over any confidential information to completely cover it. Then, just lob the paper in the recycling bin. It's saved me so much time!
This is such a handy item to store in your suitcase if you're a frequent traveler. It slots under the door and prevents it from being opened by any unwanted guests.
