Tea Garden Collection

The Tea Garden Collection brings together herbs and flowers selected for brewing, drying, and enjoying throughout the year. From calming chamomile and fragrant lavender to lemon balm, tulsi, and anise hyssop, each variety has been chosen for its usefulness, beauty, and ability to thrive in home gardens.

Grow a few favorites or plant the entire collection to create a productive garden that supplies fresh and dried teas from spring through fall.

The name comes from a British phrase — something described as “proper useful” isn’t flashy or decorative for its own sake. It’s beautiful because it works. That philosophy shapes everything here.

WHY “PROPER USEFUL

NOT A CATALOG. A COLLECTION.

Most seed shops offer thousands of options and leave you to sort through them.

Proper Useful is different.

Plants here are chosen to work together — seasonally, structurally, and aesthetically. Annuals, perennials, bare root plants, bulbs, and tubers are curated as cohesive collections.

You’re not buying a single packet. You’re building a space.

Like a well-made wardrobe, each piece can stand alone — but it’s stronger when layered thoughtfully with the others.

The White Garden Collection

Inspired by my own white garden courtyard and the timeless beauty of Sissinghurst's celebrated White Garden, this collection brings together carefully chosen seeds, bare root plants, and seasonal bulbs selected to create a garden of quiet elegance, layered bloom, and lasting beauty.

ROOTED IN REAL GARDENS

I’ve been gardening since 1999. British gardens have long influenced how I see design: structure balanced with softness, utility woven into beauty, spaces that feed both the eye and the table. White borders. Woodland edges. Formal structure. Loose abundance. Mistakes. Revisions. Seasons of failure and seasons of triumph.

The plants offered here come from years of working gardens — not theory, not trend cycles, and not bulk buying for the sake of inventory.

Proper Useful isn’t a static catalog. It’s an evolving record of growing, making, and refining — in real time. Collections evolve, but they’re always chosen with lived experience in mind.

You can follow along in the journal as gardens are planted, edited, harvested, and reimagined. What’s sold here is tested in lived spaces, not staged settings.

A Living Practice

This is a working garden. And you’re invited into it.

Seasonal notes, plant releases, and practical guidance — sent when it matters.
